Hope Against Hope

hope vs hope

Well… I am not going to make excuses.. Well, I guess I am actually. I was supposed to post a story about Lotta and her friends, but instead I am working on a different piece… *guilty eyes*

There is an Australian writing contest for short stories and poetry that I decided to take part in. The theme is Hope Against Hope and the entries are due March 6th, so I am a bit late when it comes to writing.

Finally.

Well, I finally started this wretched blog. Took me long enough.

So, hello anyone who was bored enough to read this first post.

First of all I’d like to provide a popular definition of a word used rather often on the internet, usually in unpleasant situations. According to Google, ‘noob’ is “a person, who is inexperienced in a particular sphere or activity […]”

That is me. I’m a noob. Not only at blogging, but also at what I will use this blog for, which is writing stories.

I want to use this blog to start an anthropology inspired fantasy story, that I hope one day I will be able to compile into a book, once I am competent enough to do it.

Why, would you ask?

I love anthropology (which I am currently studying as an undergraduate) and I love fantasy. I want to combine both to present a world that might be at first glance so different from ours, but that becomes so familiar with its cultural and social problems, so similar to our own. All from a perspective of a little girl thinking a bit differently than people around her and craving for an adventure.

I hope to make it fun for all people, young-and-innocent, not-so-young-anymore, midlife-crisis-people, grumpy-and-happy-old-people and so on.

We will see how it goes. Either up towards the sky or down the drain to the sewers.
