The silence in the room felt so heavy it was bearing down on Lotta, bringing her closer and closer towards the floor. Babi had not said a word since she finished telling him about their troubles and his stare was piercing right through her. To Lotta’s dismay he did not look as amused as she had hoped. Her gaze jumped from Babi to his old bookshelf, to his even older desk, to Babi again and then decided that the floor was the safest bet. My Thoughts on Feminism

Feminism.

Lately, this seems to be quite a touchy subject. From what I’ve observed, Western society is divided at least in three basic groups on this matter: pro-feminism, anti-feminism, and I-don’t-really-care-about-feminism. Of course, it gets more complicated than that. There are so many different interpretations of what feminist theory is in the first place.

In general, feminism strives for gender equality in every sphere and institution of our social world, from domestic to public, from private to government, and so on. There is, however, issues with how some feminists in our society present their ideas and opinions, which a lot of times create misunderstandings. Read more…

Hope Against Hope

Well… I am not going to make excuses.. Well, I guess I am actually. I was supposed to post a story about Lotta and her friends, but instead I am working on a different piece… *guilty eyes*

There is an Australian writing contest for short stories and poetry that I decided to take part in. The theme is Hope Against Hope and the entries are due March 6th, so I am a bit late when it comes to writing.
